When is Rail cheaper than Checkout?

Checkout costs 1% of what you take in; Rail Starter costs a flat $49 a month. They break even at $4,900 of monthly volume, so above that Rail Starter is cheaper as long as you stay inside its limits and are happy to build your own payment page.

Is the Checkout fee refunded when I refund a customer?

No. The customer gets back the full amount they paid, and the 1% fee from the original payment is not returned. On Rail there is no fee to think about: the refund equals the payment.

Who pays the network fees?

The customer pays the gas on their own payment transaction, usually a few cents on Base, Arbitrum or Optimism. Rayl adds nothing on top. When Rayl executes refunds and payouts you have approved, Rayl pays that gas.

What happens when I reach a Rail limit?

New LIVE requests of that kind are declined until the next billing period or until you upgrade. Payments that are already in progress are not affected.

Is testing free?

Yes. TEST mode is free and unlimited on both products. Payments, refunds and payouts confirm instantly, with no wallet, gas or testnet tokens needed.

Can I use Checkout and Rail together?

Yes. Both run on the same API, wallets and dashboard, and you can switch either one on for any account.
